Two songs from The Curse are featured in the indie film ‘Fillbilly’ by A.L. “MIG” MacFarland which was just showcased at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival in
Los Angeles—“A Filipino Redneck tries to prevent his wife from becoming a rock star and solicits the help of his childhood friends. Based on a true story, well sort of. A crazy redneck comedy with an international flavor. Get ready for a belly-bustin' good time with an original story that should turn the world on its own end, wherever that might be?”

Lani Ford participated in Make Music New York again this year with a solo acoustic performance at La Guardia Corner Gardens and performed in the 3rd Annual Dynamic Music Fest July 6th in Long Island. Lani Ford has interviews featured on Indiegrrl.com and Bassgirls.com and STARK has just received an artist endorsement from Daisy Rock. Lani was recently interviewed by Cognac Wellerlane for Cognac’s Corner and the interview can be seen on You Tube and www.cognacscorner.tv.

While on tour in the UK, STARK met a band broken down on the motorway and instantly befriended Lilith’s Army who will join STARK for 5 dates at the end of September, including Fontana’s and Otto’s Shrunken Head in NYC, Champs in Trenton, NJ and more.

Lani Ford of STARK will play Make Music New York

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

New York, May 23, 2008—STARK’s Lani Ford at Make Music New York June 21st.

Lani Ford will participate in Make Music New York again this year with a solo acoustic performance at LaGuardia Corner Gardens on LaGuardia between Houston and W. 3rd Street in Manhattan June 21st 3pm-4pm. Hot off the heels of the release of the sophomore album, Put It To Your Head in January, the replacement of Josette with Joe Hogan and a UK tour in March, plus online, print and radio press, Lani Ford will play an hour’s worth of solo acoustic material, including some brand new songs, for MMNY which is a day of live music outdoors all over the city. Last year, STARK shocked and awed the crowd outside of Otto’s Shrunken Head.

In the meantime, Lani Ford can be seen on Channel 34, The Manhattan Neighborhood Network, on Be Yourself As Well As Art with a recorded live solo acoustic set from the soon to be closed legendary Holland Bar in NYC. The show will air at midnight Friday May 30th (technically Saturday May 31st morning).

STARK has been receiving praise from the amazing Genya Ravan on her two radio shows, Goldie’s Garage and Chicks and Broads on Sirius Radio, Channel 25, for the song “18 Again.” STARK will soon be featured on the upcoming Wicked Cool Records compilation release Goldie’s Garage, Volume 1. Also, STARK’s song “OH NO!” has been receiving a lot of airplay on Radio Gets Wild in the UK. On Put It To Your Head, deep-fried, Texas-sized vocals dripping with underground New York attitude jars the senses with catchy hooks and cool licks. It’s sweet blues-country soul colliding with charming poetic punk rock angst. All 10 songs are written by Lani Ford. Plus, STARK’s debut CD The Curse is still getting attention with “Wrong Guy” just added to rotation on Joey Stuckey’s Audio Style on Engage Internet Radio.

STARK’s upcoming gigs include The El Bar in Philadelphia June 19th 8pm, Arlene’s Grocery July 17th 11pm and WTSR and The Record Collector in New Jersey in late July/early August. On a bittersweet note, drummer Sweet Rob Endemann will be leaving the band in June because he’s gonna be a new daddy and moving away. They welcome new drummer Eric Robel from Heroin Sheiks and Nova Express.
